The Passover and The Blood

For many of us, The Passover is a story of deliverance for the children of Israel from Egypt. As we grew older and studied this passage more, we learn that this is basis for the holiday of The passover, for both Jews and Christians.

While many of us are aware that the deep and spiritual meaning behind The Passover of Moses’s day would be a prophetic view of Jesus and the crucifixion, death, and resurrection, I wondered if there was more to that. And the answer to that question came in a post I saw, showing a door with blood on the frame and lentils and a statement saying “On The Passover, God didn’t look inside the homes to see if there were any worthy people inside, He only saw the blood”.

In other words, we sometimes get caught up in this idea that we have to make ourselves worthy. The truth is, if we COULD make ourselves worthy, then there would never have been the need for Jesus to come down, there would never have been the need for a sacrifice of blood to atone for our sins. WE CANNOT make ourselves worthy, only Jesus can do that. This is demonstrated when Jesus said, “I AM the truth, the way, and the life. No one comes to the Father but THROUGH ME”.

When you take that step to make Jesus your Lord and Savior, God isn’t looking at your mistakes, He can only see the blood of Jesus. The Bible doesn’t teach us that we must be worthy to be saved (because NO ONE is worthy as it shows in Romans 3:10-12). The Bible DOES teach us that we are worthy because of the blood that Jesus shed on the cross. God does not look into our hearts to see if we are worthy, He only sees the blood of Jesus on the door of our hearts.
